Canadian indie shop Big Bad Boo’s new animated series 1001 Nights was the most-watched show at the MIP Junior market this weekend. Loosely based on the classic Middle Eastern fairy tale anthology, the traditionally animated show follows the adventures of the legendary cast of characters, including Ali Baba, Aladdin and Sinbad, and narrated by the clever princess Shahrzad. Targeting the 6- to 11-year-old audience, a second season of the 26 x 11 package is currently in production. (For more info, visit www.1001nightshow.com).
Here is the main title song from the show:
French studio Xilam’s Floopaloo, Where Are You landed on the second most-watched show spot, while PGS Entertainment 3-D stereoscopic animated take on the classic silent movie star Chaplin and Co. was the third most-watched series on the list. Among the U.S. productions, Viacom/Nickelodeon’s Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness fared best at the No. 8 spot, while Disney’s Ultimate Spider-Man only ended up at No. 19.
