Lollipop Monster, the new live-action/animation hybrid feature from German comic-book artist Ziska Riemann gets its first Los Angeles screening this weekend as the closing night event of the German Currents Showcase (Sunday Oct. 30), presented by the Goethe-Institut and the American Cinematheque. Music videos, Super 16 and animated sequences pepper this punchy, spunky coming-of-age drama about two young girls, which won the Femina Priza at the Berlin International Festival.
Berlin-based artist Ziska Riemann publisher her first graphic novel with Gerhard Seyfriend in 1991. Her many credits include Space Bastards, Future Subjunkies, Starship Eden, Die Comics, Alle! and Rascal and Lucille. She has directed many short films over the past 10 years.
