NewTek to Toast VFX Artists at the TV Academy

Leading 3D animation and tech tool manufacturer NewTek will host a special tribute to Emmy-winning LightWave vfx artists on Nov. 10 at the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences. Actress Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager) and special guest Dick Van Dyke will be on hand to celebrate the visual achievements of Ron Thornton (Babylon Five, Star Trek, Red Tails), Chuck Comisky (Terminator 2: 3D, Avatar), Gary Hutzel (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek) and Eric Hance (Terra Nova, Hellboy, Star Trek Enterprise).

The evening will feature a panel focusing on the challenges of producing high-end visual effects for TV and dealing with the medium’s difficult budgets and production deadlines.
