Disney has announced new dates for several of its upcoming feature releases. The new Phineas and Ferb theatrical project is set for July 26, 2013, while Jerry Bruckheimer’s off-again, on-again The Lone Ranger is now set for May 31, 2013. The new take on the classic series is directed by Gore Verbinski and will star Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Ruth Wilson, Dwight Yoakam, Helena Bonham Carter and Barry Pepper.
Earlier this year, Disney Channel Worldwide chief Gary Marsh announced that an animated/live-action feature film based on Phineas and Ferb was in development by Tron: Legacy producer Sean Bailey. Marsh also revealed that Disney’s idea for the movie would include the beginning and the ending of the movie being animated, but the middle portion having the characters portrayed by actors. The script is by show’s original creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh.
Manwhile, Marvel’s Thor 2 is now scheduled for Nov. 14, 2013. Chris Hemsworth will be back as the Norse God and Patty Jenkins (Monster, the pilot for AMC’s The Killing) will be directing the sequel.
