Paris-based Marathon Media has signed a deal with Singapore’s Scrawl Studios to produce Star Princess (working title), an animated series developed in partnership with France Télévisions and Disney Channel France.
Marathon Media (Redakai, Rekkit Rabbit, Totally Spies) and Scrawl (Nanoboy, Milly Molly) have committed to two seasons of 26 half-hour shows, for a total of 52 episodes.
“We’re thrilled with this collaboration with Scrawl that strengthens our ties with Asia, a dynamic territory that boasts talent and expertise and where our animated series are doing extremely well,” says Vincent Chalvon Demersay, CEO of Marathon Media. “Coproducing Star Princess with Scrawl —a studio that has a strong track record in international co-productions — is a new demonstration of our bridge-building strategy with the region.”
Seng Choon Meng, CEO of Scrawl Studios, adds: “We have been a very active studio in the creation and licensing of our own intellectual properties, and Star Princess immediately struck us as a property that has the potential to become a very successful kids entertainment brand. We’re proud to be part of this exciting development”.
Created by Chalvon Demersay, David Michel and Jean-Louis Vandestoc, the series features three alien princesses posing as musical performers to cover their identity and save their endangered planet. The show will begin production in winter of 2012. Zodiak Kids will hold worldwide TV, HV and L&M rights to the series except for South East Asia.
