Autodesk, USC Present 5D | Flux

Immersive design consortium 5D | Institute will hold a world-building design discussion series in Los Angeles March 13-15 with 5D | Flux, presented in association with Autodesk and the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. The event will consist of three 120-minute interactive sessions aimed at encouraging conversations about world-building across disciplines.

The Tuesday, March 13 “Inception” session will cover imaging and developing of worlds; Wednesday’s “Prototyping” talk will discuss testing the story space and visualizing the world; and Thursday’s “Manufacturing and Finishing” session will center on building and experiencing the world.

Speakers and moderators will include production designers, art directors and supervisors from the animation and vfx spheres—such as Alex McDowell (Man of Steel), Rick Carter (War Horse), Pierre Olivier Vincent (How to Train Your Dragon), Patrick Hanenberger (Rise of the Guardians), Jerrica Cleland (Arthur Christmas), Jim Bissell (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), Tom Meyer (Real Steel), Andrew Jones (Avatar), Jeff Wisniewski (Tintin), Mike Fink (Avatar)—as well as top authorities in academics, software, games and film.
