Miss Piggy and Kermit Ready for ‘Muppet’ Sequel

It was really a no-brainer. After Disney made over $154 million at the box office worldwide, the studio would be crazy not to order a follow-up. Variety reports that the Mouse House has greenlit a sequel to The Muppets with the film’s original director James Bobin and co-writer Nicholas Stoller. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman produced the first outing.

Miss Piggy and Kermit were presenters at the recent Academy Awards, and the Bret McKenzie’s tune “Man or Muppet” won the Best Song Oscar. The two stars of thefilm had already announced the sequel while on an international tour for the first film, saying that the follow-up was officially happening during a Feb. 13 appearance on ITV’s This Morning chat show.

Jason Segel may star in the sequel, but he’s too busy with other projects to write the sequel.
