In anticipation of the May 4 release The Avengers movie at the box office, Lions Gate Home Ent. is releasing a special three-movie package featuring Planet Hulk (2010), The Invincible Iron Man (2007) and Doctor Strange (2007). Although, these direct-to-DVD movies have been previously available on the market, this new package is a great way to pique fans’ appetite for the eagerly anticipated movie directed by Joss Whedon. The 139-minute, 2-disc DVD can be yours for $19.95. The package is also available as a Blu-ray release.
Another option this week are two new Sony editions of Marvel’s Iron Man anime series (3-Disc DVD, $29.99) and Marvel’s X-Men anime series (2-Disc DVD), both of which have storylines set in Japan.
Anime fans can also enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, which was released in select theaters earlier this year. Directed by Kazuya Murata, the film finds the Elric brothers on a distant valley of slums inhabited the Milos, proud people struggling against bureaucratic exploitations. Also playing a pivotal role in the adventure is Julia, a young alchemist who will stop at nothing to restore the Milos to their former glory. The Funimation release features a variety of trailers and actor commentaries. The 2-disc DVD is priced at $29.98, while the 3-disc DVD + Blu-ray version goes for $34.98.
Also available this week are The Wild Thornberrys: Season 2, Part 2 (Paramount Home Ent., $19.93) and Ben 10: Four Arms (Cartoon Network, $5.98)
