‘Snow White’ Gets Extended; Complete ‘Terra Nova’ on DVD

What’s old is new again this week, as hot home video releases re-imagine the classics and take a high-tech trip to prehistoric times.

Getting the extended edition treatment is the hit fantasy movie Snow White and the Huntsman (Universal, $29.98 Extended Edition DVD, $34.98 Blu-ray-DVD-Digital Copy Combo Pack). The re-take of the classic fairy tale stars Kristin Stewart and Chris Hemsworth and, while it wasn’t as animated as the classic Disney version, it did feature some swell visual effects that you can read all about right here.

Terra Nova: The Complete Series (Fox, $49.98) ran only one season, but it was a memorable one. The Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi series featured some fantastic visual effects work on a weekly basis, all of which you can read about here.

And if you’re really looking to go back in time, try adding a new dimension to Titanic (Fox, $30.99 DVD, $40.99 DVD-Blu-ray Combo Pack, $49.99 3D Blu-ray-2D Blu-ray-DVD Combo Pack). Don’t forget: The film won the Oscar for best visual effects, so there’s no need to be embarrassed at the video shop.

The kiddie lineup includes Strawberry Shortcake: Jammin’ with Cherry Jam (Fox, $14.98) and Barbie: The Pop Star and the Princess (Universal, $19.98) for the girls, and Pajanimals: Meet the Pajanimals (NCircle Entertainment, $6.99) and Chuggington  Collection, Vol. 1 (Anchor Bay, $19.98) for the preschoolers.

Warner Bros. Archive, the on-demand DVD service that makes some of the more obscure series in the studio vaults available for the first time, has added this week three animated gems to its slate: Sky Commanders: The Complete Animated Series (Warner Bros. Archive, $24.95), The Heathcliff and Dingbat Show (Warner Bros. Archive,  $24.95) and The Halloween Tree (Warner Bros. Archive, $14.95).

Lastly, anime fans have Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season 3 (FUNimation, $54.98 Blu-ray, $49.98 DVD) to add to their shelves.
