Animal Logic Rekindles Fuel VFX

Australian animation and vfx house Animal Logic has announced the finalization of a deal to buy the assets of Sydney-based Fuel VFX, which recently went into voluntary administration due to a downturn in the nation’s visual effects industry. The announcement was made by Animal Logic’s CEO, Zareh Nalbandian, who noted that a new company called Animal Logic Fuel has been formed, which will continue to trade as Fuel VFX, and that the five original Fuel founders—Jason Bath, Paul Butterworth, Andrew Hellen, Simon Maddison and Dave Morley—will continue on working at and driving all aspects of the new business.

“Fuel VFX represents some of Australia’s best design and visual effects talent and capabilities. Highly regarded around the world for its advertising and film VFX work, it is a name with a great pedigree and a solid future,” Nalbandian said. “We are committed to making sure that this great creative resource will not disappear from our Australian VFX landscape.”

Animal Logic plans to merge its advertising and short-form vfx post-production services under Fuel’s roof by the end of the year, but both companies will operate their own film vfx divisions independently to retain distinct identities and individual client relationships.
