The annual animation and vfx show Paris FX will highlight the French and British post-production artists behind Skyfall, Cloud Atlas and Asterix & Obelix: God Save Britannia, Variety reports. The event is hosted by the Ile de France Film Commission and Lariviere Org. in partnership with Film London each year, and offers case studies in animation/vfx-centric features from around the world. Paris FX is a two day event, taking place November 26 and 27 this year.
Presenters this year will include Cinesite artists from Sam Mendes’ addition to the James Bond series, Skyfall; BUF artists from Ang Lee’s Life of Pi; vfx supe Angela Barson and exec producer Lucy Ainsworth from BlueBolt Studio for HBO’s Game of Thrones; and Matthew Bristowe, joint managing director at Prime Focus for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie. Jon Thum, senior vfx supe at Prime Focus, will also discuss Peter Travis’ 3-D reimagining Dredd.
The event will also highlight vfx-heavy French productions, like Asterix & Obelix, which will be well represented by crews from its three post-production companies Mikros, Mac Guff and Golaem. Additionally, a roundtable will discuss the art of film title design with Laurent Brett (The Artist) and Kook Ewo (Silent Hill 2). The event is for industry professionals, but its doors will open to the public for an evening celebrating the work of title designers Saul Bass (Psycho), Pablo Ferro (Men in Black 3) and Kyle Cooper (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol).
