Just in time for the holiday season, Disney Home Ent. has released a special 20th Anniversary edition of A Muppet Christmas Carol on Blu-ray this week. Directed by Brian Henson, this 1992 take on the classic Charles Dickens tale features Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit and Michael Caine as Scrooge. The pic also showcases several terrific tunes penned by Oscar-winner Paul Williams (Evergreen).
The two-disc combo pack includes a special “Disney Intermission” feature which offers fans to watch and “cluck-along” to five classic holiday-themed songs performed by the gang, as well as an all-new audio commentaries with Kermit, Rizzo, Gonzo, a behind-the-scenes featurette hosted by the director, a blooper reel, Pepe Profiles Gonzo: “Portrait of the Artist as a Young Weirdo” and a special look at Christmas around the world with Gonzo and Rizzo.
The 2-disc combo pack sells for $26.50, while the single DVD disc goes for $19.99.
