‘Peter Rabbit’ Hops to Nickelodeon

A new CG-animated series based on the works of Beatrix Potter is high-tailing it to Nickelodeon as the preschool-targeted show Peter Rabbit debuts on the channel Tuesday, February 19 at 12 p.m. ET/PT. The show features educational goals that encourage young viewers to learn problem-solving and interpersonal skills as well as fostering an interest in and respect for nature. The show, which is produced in conjunction with Silvergate Media and animated by Brown Bag Films, will also begin airing in the U.K. on BBC’s CBeebies this year. The holiday special Peter Rabbit’s Christmas Tale aired on both channels last December.

The show follows mischievous, charming Peter as he overcomes obstacles, outwits predators and avoids danger. Peter wants to grow up to be just like his late father and carries his journal (a guide on how to be a good rabbit) on his adventures with his friends Benjamin Bunny and new character Lily Bobtail. The premiere two-parter episode will comprise “The Tale of the Radish Robber,” in which the friends find the perfect place to eat the radishes they took from Mr. McGregor’s garden, not realizing a radish robber is on their tales; and “The Tale of Two Enemies” wherein Peter sets Mr. Tod and Tommy Brock against each other, only to learn that breaking the food chain is harder than it looks.
