Corus Entertainment’s Canadian toon studio/distributor Nelvana Enterprises will be hyping two animated series in production at MIPTV this year–the new oddball comedy Zack & Deuce and season two of preschool show Mike the Knight. In addition the company will be repping further selections from its animated portfolio: Detentionaire, OH NO! (It’s an Alien Invasion), Babar and the Adventures of Badou, Franklin & Friends specials “Polar Explorer” and “Deep Sea Voyage,” and Beyblade: Shogun Steel. Zack & Deuce (52 x 11) is a 2D animated comedy targeting kids 6-11 based on the book series The Day My Butt Went Psycho by Andy Griffiths (Scholastic). The show follows a boy named Zack and his best friend Deuce–who happens to be Zack’s recently detached butt. Together they have outrageous adventures in a world where humans and their butts live side by side–but some butts are up to no good and it’s up to Zack and Deuce to keep the world safe from the cheeky bad guys. The show is a Canadian-Australian co-pro from Nelvana Ltd. and Studio Moshi, in association with Scholastic Entertainment. Commissioning broadcasters include Teletoon (Canada), The Nine Network (Australia) and ABC (Australia). In some territories, including Australia, the show will be known as The Day My Butt Went Psycho.
Season two of CG preschool series Mike the Knight (52 x 12) will introduce Mike’s father and role model, the King of Glendragon, who has been off exploring faraway lands. The series brings the excitement and enchantment of medieval times into the life of the modern preschooler. Mike the Knight is a Canada-U.K. co-pro between HIT Entertainment and Nelvana. Nelvana Enterprises represents the series in broadcast and home entertainment in Latin America and France, as well as broadcast in the U.S., while HIT represents the show in all other territories globally.
