‘Maya’ Buzzes to RAI YoYo

Studio100 Animation’s CG-animated take on classic kids’ property Maya the Bee is winging it to Italian channel RAI’s digital kids outlet RAI YoYo following its successful September 2012 launch on TV through RAI Due, where the show airs daily as L’Ape Maia. The digital platform launch will kick off May 5.

Based on the ’70s book by German author Waldemar Bonsels, the new show blends CG animation and 2D backgrounds to illustrate Maya’s enthusiastic explorations of the world around her. Aimed at kids 3-9, the 78 x 11 series is produced by Studio100 and co-produced by TFI and ZDF. In Italy, the series is in collaboration with Rai Fiction. Group Planeta Junior is the partner for Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Cyprus.

Planeta Junior is also handling all licensing categories and has signed over 60 deals in Italy, including back to school, decorations, home textiles, stickers, publishing, puzzles, paper towels and containers for pizza, personal care, accessories, apparel for kids, cake decorations, bicycle, plush, greeting, outdoor games, prepaid cards–further contracts will be announced soon.
