+ International indie toon house DHX Media has inked a deal with Viacom Media Networks for the sixth season of its wacky animated action-comedy Johnny Test to air on Nickelodeon Germany. The deal also includes renewals of seasons 1 and 2. The acquisition of season six brings the total to 117 episodes of the 2D series about an 11-year-old boy and his talking dog who serve as test subjects for his brainiac sisters. Aimed at kids 6-11, the show has been a hit for Nick Germany, grabbing over 14.6 million viewers for the kids 3+ audience since 2009. Additionally, season 6 features the 100th episode, written by show creator Scott Fellows (creator/EP – Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, Big Time Rush; EP The Fairly OddParents).
+ Paris-based Mediatoon has secured new sales with two Latin American partners. Premiere public channel Ecuador TV has picked up a series package including two seasons of The Garfield Show (104 x 11), Contraptus (78 x 8; also on FETV Panama, Canal 22 Mexico, TNU Uruguay, ECTV Ecuador and Globosat Brazil) and three animated Tintin films (3 x 75); all set to air from next June. Brazilian public network TV Cultura has picked up three animated Asterix films: Asterix & Cleopatra, Asterix the Gaul and Asterix – The Twelve Tasks. Mediatoon has sold over 600 hours of programming in the past three years to eight LatAm countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chili and Uruguay. Several of the studio’s series are broadcast in all LatAm territories on HBO, Discovery and Cartoon Network, including Garfield.
