If you don’t blow your entire toon memorabilia budget at Comic-Con this weekend, indie Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon has some beautiful items to add to your shopping list. The acclaimed filmmakers have released a set of 16 limited edition prints from its 2010 Oscar-nominated film The Secret of Kells, directed by Tomm Moore.
The hand-crafted, high-resolution prints (510mm x 280mm) are gallery-quality scene illustrations from the film, set in a black timber frame and individually signed and numbered by Moore, and highlight the ornate and richly textured design of the movie, which was inspired by Irish medieval art. Each of the 16 scenes was hand-picked by Moore and his team from 200 possibilities.
In addition to being available for sale on the new Secret of Kells Store website for $500/€385, the prints are on public exhibition in Ireland at Kilkenny’s IDEATE art and design festival with plans to tour other locations internationally and be displayed at screenings of the film in the coming months. You can view the full selection of prints on the webstore.
