Sadly as we were getting ready for the long weekend, we got word that two major children’s animation companies have gone into administration. French/U.S. animation studio Moonscoop appointed an administrator on June 20, according to French business information site Societe.com. Moonscoop, which has a studio in Paris and another in LA through its acquisition of Mike Young Productions in 2006, is behind such popular animated series as Code Lyoko, Chloe’s Closet, Geronimo Stilton, Dive Olly Dive and Casper’s Scare School.
Also experiencing major financial difficulties is Wales-based Dinamo Productions, the animation studio which has worked on shows such as Rastamouse and Abadas. The company filed for insolvency on June 26, per U.K. business directory Companies House. Administrator Begbies Traynor is handling the matter. Dinamo was founded in 2004 by Owen Stickler and Aron Evans.
