Independent kids’ entertainment producer, distributor and licensor DHX Media has announced a raft of new deals across multiple platforms in Canada for a number of its hit animated series, from recent successes like Johnny Test to classic characters like Caillou.
“Canada remains a key territory for DHX Media and these deals highlight the appeal of our properties across traditional and digital platforms and with both English and French-speaking audiences,” DHX territory manager Thom Chapman noted in the announcement.
In broadcast, TELETOON Canada has renewed rights to the George of the Jungle toon as well as signing on for seasons 1-3 of Johnny Test. French-language educational channel TFO has renewed its agreement for seasons 1-4 of perennial favorite Caillou as well as exclusive rights for season 5. And Rogers Media has picked up linear rights for key DHX properties including Franny’s Feet (season 1 & 2), Zoboomafoo (s2), Busy World of Richard Scarry (s1-5) and Adventures of Paddington Bear (s1-3) to air on its cabler City Saskatchewan in the daytime preschool block.
On the digital side, DHX has also secured deals with TELUS Communications, which now holds SVOD rights to a slew of the indie’s properties, including Angela Anaconda, Bo on the Go and Adventures of Paddington Bear for French-speaking Canada, while Knowledge West has also picked up a package of kids’ titles.
