Home audiences have the chance this week to enjoy the richly animated CG magic of Fox/Blue Sky’s Epic on DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray sets. Directed by Blue Sky Studios co-founder Chris Wedge (Ice Age, Robots) and loosely based on author William Joyce’s Leafmen book, the film follows a teen girl (Amanda Seyfried) who is transported–and shrunk–to a magical forest world where she is enlisted by Queen Tara (Beyonce Knowles) to help the Leafmen in their struggle against the evil Boggans and their cruel leader Mandrake (Christoph Waltz). Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Aziz Ansari, Chris O’Dowd, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis and Steven Tyler also star.
The meticulously animated film was first released on May 24 and has made $107.214 million at the U.S. box office and $145.100 million in foreign territories. Also available as 2-disc Blu-ray/DVD + Digital & Digital HD which includes special features ($39.99) or Deluxe Edition Blu-ray 3D combo pack which also includes collectible seed cards to grow your own magic garden ($49.99).
