+ Disney XD has ordered new animated comedy series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, created by Jared Bush (All of Us, Zootopia) and Sam Levine (Wreck-It Ralph, Bolt). The show relates the adventures of suburban kid Penn Zero who is offered the coolest job in the world: part-time hero and leader of a team of good guys who zap to other worlds to save the day. Together with sidekick Sashi and wise man Boone, Penn fights the part-time villain Rippen, tackling everything from outer space and the Old West, enchanted lands and the ultimate challenge–suburbia. Penn Zero is set to premiere in fall 2014 on the channel, per the announcement made by Disney TV Animation’s SVP of original series Eric Coleman.

+ Cartoon Network, Graphic India and POW! Entertainment have announced a partnership that will bring Stan Lee‘s first-ever Indian superhero to life in an animated TV movie, Chakra: The Invincible, set to premiere on Cartoon Network in India on November 30. The story follows Raju Rai, a young Indian boy living in Mumbai, where he and his mentor Dr. Singh develop a technology suit that activates the mystical chakras of the body. When Raju dons the suit, he develops super powers to use in a constant battle to protect the city from super villains. Chakra will also soon be featured on Rovio Entertainment’s new ToonsTV digital platform.

+ Planeta Junior has inked a licensing agreement with Studio 100 Media for the new animated series Tashi (52 x 12; kids 6-11). The deal, finalized at MIPCOM, includes exclusive TV, home entertainment, on-demand, merchandising and licensing rights (excluding games, theme parks, music and stage shows) for the show and covers exploitation rights for Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Cyprus. Currently in production (due Fall 2014), the CG with 2D elements series is based on Aussie kids books by Barbara and Anna Fienberg and is produced by Flying Bark Productions in association with Discreet Art Productions India and Telegael Teoranta.

+ Saban Brands and MarVista Entertainment have licensed the all-new, sixth series installment of the Digimon franchise, Digimon Fusion (30 x half-hour), to ITV for broadcast in the U.K. starting next year. Additionally, ITV Studios Global Entertainment will be representing Digimon Fusion for consumer products licensing and promotion in the territory, it will launch the property at Brand Licensing Europe. The new series centers on human boy Mikey who is transported to the digital realm and must team up with his new Digimon friends before their world is deleted forever–new fusion powers allow Digimon to combine and fuse their abilities to create endless battle possibilities. Bandai serves as global master toy licensee.
