It looks like there will be lots of singing involved in next year’s Postman Pat: The Movie. That’s because we recently got word that U.K. pop star Ronan Keating has joined the cast of Postman Pat: The Movie. He is billed as the singing voice of the titular character.
Produced by RGH Entertainment, the 3-D stereoscopic, CG-animated family movie will be released in the U.K. on Friday, May 23rd, 2014. Other voice cast members include Stephen Mangan (who does the non-singing Pat part), Jim Broadbent, David Tennant (Dr. Who) and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter). Keating also has a cameo appearance in the film, appearing as a contestant who competes against Pat for a coveted prize.
Keating said, “It’s been a true honour to help bring Postman Pat’s singing voice to life. I grew up watching Pat and all the great characters in Greendale so I can’t wait to take my kids along to see them all on the big screen.”
The film finds everyone’s favorite postman, coming face-to-face with the temptations of money, status and a shiny new suit when he enters a national TV talent show competition that threatens to tear him away from his hometown of Greendale and his family and friends.
Postman Pat: The Movie is currently in production, directed by Mike Disa (Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil) from a screenplay co-written by Kim Fuller (Spice World, High Heels & Low Lifes), Annika Bluhm (Head Writer and long-time producer of the Postman Pat television series) and Nicole Dubuc (Ben Ten, The Spectacular Spider Man TV Series, Kim Possible). The film is being produced by RGH’s Robert Anich with Rubicon’s Randa Ayoubi and David Corbett with Dreamworks Classics’ Eric Ellenbogen and Doug Schwalbe serving as exec producers.
