3D Society Nominates Best Live-Action, Toon Features

The International 3D and Advanced Imaging Society has nominated five live-action and five animated features for its top honors at its Creative Awards, due to be handed out Jan. 28 in a ceremony at Warner Bros. Studios.

The nominees for Outstanding Animated 3D Feature are:

The Croods
Despicable Me 2
Frozen
Monsters University
Turbo

The nominees for Outstanding Live-Action 3D Feature are:

Gravity
The Great Gatsby
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Oz: The Great and Powerful
Star Trek Into Darkness

The winners in 20 categories will be announced during the ceremony, including a new award for programs made in 4K resolution.

The society will give The Century Award to 3ality Technica and its founder and CEO, Steve Schklair.

“The Century Award is presented to those individuals and companies who have indelibly left their mark on 3D’s first century,” said awards chairman Buzz Hays, citing 3Ality’s pioneering work in both features and television.

Also, Pixar Animation Studios will receive the Society’s Sir Charles Wheatstone Award for creative excellence in 3D storytelling.
