Blackmagic Design has updated its DaVinci Resolve color correction software and announced its technology backs the Sundance-screening live-action short film Me+Her.
The software update, DaVinci Resolve 10.1, adds new editing and stereoscopic 3D features, as well as support for Final Cut Pro X 10.1.
New Features include:
- Allowing users to preview and align multiple camera takes while editing, so they can quickly switch between takes to show their clients shot options live from the timeline;
- Support for trimming frame-based clips such as DNG and DPX to reduce time in transferring clips for even faster workflows;
- XML import enhancements for both FCP X 10.1 and FCP 7 customers;
The update is available now for download free of charge for all existing DaVinci Resolve customers from the Blackmagic Design website.
The company also announced Me+Her was shot using the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Pocket Cinema Camera.
For this film, Director Joseph Oxford and cinematographer Bradley Stonesifer created an amazing imaginary world where all of the main characters and sets were built out of standard cardboard boxes on a one fifth scale. To bring the cardboard to life, Oxford and Stonesifer chose Blackmagic Cinema Camera as their main camera and Pocket Cinema Camera for some specific shots requiring a smaller camera form factor.
The short film has two more screenings set at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, ongoing now in Park City, Utah.
