Four of Ireland’s largest visual effects houses have agreed to form the VFX Association of Ireland.
The founding houses are Windmill Lane, Screen Scene, Egg Post Production and Piranha Bar, according to a report by the Irish Film and Television Network.
The group was formed to promote the Irish VFX industry as a center of excellence and highlight the quality, talent and infrastructure it offers. It also will work with educational institutions to ensure a steady flow of well-trained Irish VFX talent.
“The hopes for the VFXAI are to build an international reputation and create sustainable jobs in Ireland,” said Dave Burke, managing director of Piranha Bar. Through engagement with educational bodies, it hopes to create a unified strategy of training and education of students so the graduates are better qualified to work in the industry.”
