Warner Bros. has moved to 2016 the release date for its Superman-meets-Batman followup to last summer’s Man of Steel.
The DC Comics sequel, directed again by Zack Snyder, was to open July 17, 2015, a date the studio has now pegged for Pan, a Peter Pan origin story directed by Joe Wright.
The still untitled Superman-Batman feature, which will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, will now open May 6, 2016. Warner Bros. said the delay was made to help the film achieve its vision.
Other news on the feature includes a report from Variety that Joaquin Phoenix is currently considering the unspecified role of the villain in the movie.
Also returning from Man of Steel are screenwriter David S. Goyer, producers Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven and cast members Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.
