The physical foibles and bewitching mustache of Charlie Chaplin live on thanks to the magic of animation in Chaplin & Co., which is proving a hit for distributor PGS Entertainment. Produced by Method Animation and commissioned by France Televisions and Rai Fiction, the series (104 x 6 or 26 x 26) is now airing in over 100 territories. Production partners for the CGI show are MK2 TV, DQ Ent., LP Animation and Fabrique d’Images.
PGS has most recently inked deals for Chaplin & Co. with RAI (Italy), RTVE (Spain), Canal Panda (Spain), RSI (Italian Switzerland), TV2 ( Norway), DR TV/DR Ramasjang (Denmark), LRT (Lithuania), Direct Sight/Pixel Channel (Ukraine), RUV (Iceland) and Globosat (Brazil). Previous licensing deals for the show were concluded with France 3 Ludo, VIP2000 (Portugal), VRT and RTBF (Belgium), MTV3 (Finland), Minimax (Eastern Europe), CTC (Russia), Netflix (U.S.), TeleQuebec (Canada), KBSN (South Korea) and Cartoon Network (Japan) among others.
Chaplin & Co. is based on the antics of the silent film star Charlie Chaplin, a dreamer and kid trapped in an adult body. Method updates Chaplin’s slapstick humor for today’s kids through CG animation inspired by classic cartoons such as Mister Magoo and Tom & Jerry.
