Film Foundation Presents The Animation Universe

Film buffs and animation fans in the D.C. area will take in a three-day workshop beginning today dedicated to the tooniverse as The Film Foundation’s Story of Movies presents The Animation Universe at the Library of Congress Packard Campus. The workshop will explore themes such as animation & war, caricature & censorship, and animation on the home front. The free seminar will also introduce educators to an interdisciplinary curriculum exploring teaching strategies on how to “read” movies.

The Animation Universe Schedule:

Thursday:
2:30 p.m. screening: The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926)
7:30 p.m. screening: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Friday:
2:30 p.m. screening: “Visualizing Sound,” an adult-oriented program about sound and music in filmmaking, including scenes from Disney’s WALL-E and The Man Who Planted Trees
7:30 p.m. screening: The Triplets of Belleville (2003)

Saturday:
2:30 p.m. screening: The Iron Giant (1999)
7:30 p.m. screening: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
