London Int’l Animation Fest Returns to Barbican

The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) will return to the city’s Barbican Centre for its 2014 edition, running Friday, October 24 through Sunday, November 2. Including forums, workshops and over 200 new and historical animated films from around the world, the events seeks to delight fans of the genre and challenge the notion that CG blockbusters are the sum of the medium.

Special guests will include world-renowned filmmakers Andreas Hykade, Priit Tender, Ulo Pikkov and Steven Woloshen, who will present workshops and screenings. LIAF will also present the U.K. premieres of Signe Baumane’s first ever feature project Rocks in My Pockets and Ale Abreu’s acclaimed The Boy and the World, which has claimed top honors at this year’s Annecy and Ottawa animation fests. Program highlights also include a celebration of Norman McLaren’s hundredth birthday anniversary, and “3 Days in Paris” — two screenings striving to show that the City of Lights is the world animation capitol.

A full programme will be available on liaf.org.uk and barbican.org.uk starting September 4. Tickets are available from the Barbican online box office or by phone.
