ShortsHD, the high-def network devoted to short films, will be celebrating the art of animation with its Summer of Animation promotion. Some of the biggest names in the genre will be represented with special showcases, including Joan Gratz, Norman McClaren, Paul Driessen and Blur Studios.
Every Wednesday night at 8, ShortsHD will present the Animation Short Film Festival, a special collection of award-winning animated shorts from across the globe. The network’s staple Big Saturday will also feature the premiere of Animation Domination during its Top 10 program.
This month the network will present a spotlight on Joan Gratz, the pioneer of the claypainting technique, with some of her most popular shorts like Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase. Also this month, viewers can tune in to a profile of Norman McClaren on the heels of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
In August, award-winning animation, vfx and design company Blur Studios will be profiled with a showcase of the company’s acclaimed shorts like Gopher Broke, Gentleman’s Duel and In the Rough. The summer will close out with a celebration of Dutch animator Paul Driessen.
