‘Assault on Arkham’ Swoops onto Disc

Warner Bros. is unveiling the latest Dark Knight animated adventure today with the release of Batman: Assault on Arkham on Blu-ray ($24.98), DVD ($19.98) and Digital. An attempt to recreate the noir-action vibe of the popular Arkham videogames, the 2D feature finds Gotham in danger (again) when the government assembles a group of villains, known as the Suicide Squad, to break into the Arkham Asylum to retrieve top-secret information stolen by the Riddler. Things go awry when Harley Quinn frees the Joker, who plots to blow up the Asylum and Gotham City.

Directed by Jay Oliva (Man of Steel, Justice League: War) and Ethan Spaulding (Son of Batman) from a script by Heath Corson (Justice League: War), the voice cast also features Neal McDonough as Deadshot, Troy Baker as Joker, Matthew Gray Gubler as Riddler, CCH Pounder as Amanda Waller, Greg Ellis as Captain Boomerang and Giancarlo Esposito as Black Spider. The Blu-ray combo pack includes special features Arkham Analyzed: The Secrets Behind the Asylum documentary, The Joker’s Queen: Harley Quinn, an advance look at the next DC animated feature and four episodes from the DC Comics Vault.
