Cara Ricci, a student of Cogswell College’s Game Studio program, will present a newly produced, school-developed mobile app game during SIGGRAPH’s “Appy Hour” showcase. The game, Tangram Jam, was produced as part of the Game Design & Development course; the presentation will take place at Appy Hour on Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., along with other demos of the latest in mobile applications.
Compatible with iOS and Android, Tangram Jam is an educational puzzle game aimed at 3rd and 4th grade students, designed to teach the concept of adding fractions. The game leverages visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning techniques in a stimulating environment. 3D characters and procedurally generated music are also featured.
“Cara Ricci’s contribution to the exciting new kids game Tangram Jam has been invaluable,” says Cogswell’s Dean of the College & Director of Game Design & Development Jerome Solomon. “She completely redesigned our user interface and contributed much of the game’s UX (user experience). She also worked as a character animator on our team. The look and feel, UX, and animations featured in this new game are critical to making its game play experience fun and engaging for 3rd and 4th grade students.”
