The American Film Institute will present a special, free screening of Fox’s supernatural adventure The Book of Life during its Latin American Film Festival, running September 18 – October 8 at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland. The screening is scheduled for October 5 at 3 p.m., and will include a Q&A with writer-director Jorge R. Gutierrez.
The Book of Life will open in theaters October 17. The film, inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebration, follows Manolo (voiced by Diego Luna), a young man who is caught between his family’s demands and his love for the beautiful Maria (Zoe Saldana), who is also being courted by suave Joaquin (Channing Tatum). Manolo embarks on an epic journey across three fantastical worlds and must face his fears before making his choice. Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo, Danny Trejo, Ron Perlman, Ice Cube, Christina Applegate, Placido Domingo and Eugenio Derbez also lend their voices to the CG flick.
