The Visual Effects Society (VES) has announced that award-winning actor, comedian and author Patton Oswalt will return to host the VES Awards for the fourth time next year. The 13th annual event will take place February 4, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to celebrate outstanding achievements in visual effects artistry and innovation.
“I certainly hope Boyhood gets recognized for its amazing CGI aging effects!” Oswalt quips in the official announcement.
Oswalt is a busy man. In addition to his recent roles in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Adult Swim’s The Heart, She Holler and his latest TV special Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time, he continues to tour comedy festivals around the world and has a regular bi-monthly show at the Coronet Theater in Los Angeles. His first published book was 2011’s Zombie Spaceship Wasteland, and his second — Silver Screen Fiend — will hit shelves next January. Oswalt is also familiar to animation fans as a prolific feature and guest voice artist, playing Remy in Ratatouille and characters on The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Word Girl and Neighbors From Hell.
As previously announced, among the VFX luminaries to be feted at the VES Awards is director/producer/writer/composer J.J. Abrams, who will be presented with The Visionary Award in recognition of his enormous contributions to film entertainment.
