The U.K.’s CBeebies has commissioned a third 20 x 22 season of preschool adventure series Tree Fu Tom, set to debut in 2016. The CBeebies in-house and FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment co-production has proven a hit around the world since its 2012 debut, and is now broadcast in over 120 territories. The animation is provided by Blue Zoo Animation.
According to the co-producers, the third season will continue “mini but mighty” Tom’s magical adventures, but also introduce new elements as Tom and friends must come to grips with Red Magic — a mysterious extension of Tree Fu created by a special Red Crystal. By performing Tree Fu moves with the Red Crystal, Tom can draw on attributes of animals from across the world such as the strength of an elephant or speed of a cheetah. Exciting new locations (mysterious Deep Root Caverns or arid desert Dead Branch) and characters (Red Magic mentor Muru, spiderling Racquette and shy sprites Rootie and Shade) will help evolve the popular show.
