Leading Asian content and media company CJ E&M has announced the creation of an animation business division. The announcement was made at a special event at CJ HumanVille in Seoul, which also saw the unveiling of a new animated TV series Robot Trains RT for hundreds of industry watchers.
CJ E&M plans to invest $15 million US this year to develop animated content. The new division will pursue a range of activities in this area, including development, production and content distribution, as well as managing licensing. The company will pay particular attention to the Chinese market, setting up a team devoted to developing business in the country in the first half of this year.
Robot Trains RT is a coming-of-age story about a group of anthropomorphic train characters living in Train World who bravely defend their home from dark forces and adventurously explore new towns one by one, breaking through tunnels which block the way.
