Updates for Animafest, APD, FICCI BAF Awards and Goteborg

There’s plenty of festival news today for those of you with films you’re looking to submit.

Animafest Zagreb 2015 is soliciting site-specific animation works for the MSU media facade, as well as all other professionals and scholars to join the Animafest Scanner II 2015 international symposium and the main festival. Animation goes MSU! seeks three-channel site-specific animated works up to 10 minutes of duration, to be screened on the MSU media façade between May 26 and June 14. The applications are open until March 22. And the second Animafest Scanner II 2015 international symposium, set for June 10-11, invites international film and media researchers to present the latest findings in the field of animation. This year’s keynote speaker will be film theorist, critic and professor Giannalberto Bendazzi. Applications for participation at the symposium are open until March 1. Meanwhile, entries for the 25th World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb — taking place June 9-14 in Zagreb — are due Feb. 1. For details, visit the festival’s website at http://www.animafest.hr.

Animation Production Day is set for May 7- 8 with a new addition to the program: Producers Meet Producers, a series of one-to-one meetings in which German and international producers, animation studios and – for the first time – service companies, all in a position to join projects as co-financiers, meet to negotiate co-operation deals. The event is hosted by the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film and FMX, Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Transmedia, and organized by Film- & Medienfestival gGmbH and Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. The 38th annual Goteborg Film Festival in Sweden has named Michaela Pavlatova as this year’s animator in focus. The festival runs Jan. 23-Feb. 2. The festival cites Pavlatova as “an exuberant fountain of ideas, who with humor and rich imagery portrays inequality, masturbation and unhappy marriage.” She will host a master class at the festival on Jan. 28.
