Russia’s Wizart Animation has closed several new deals for its latest feature production and distribution project during the European Film Market (EFM) event this year. The Snow Queen (2012), The Snow Queen 2 (2014) and Melnitsa Animation’s Urfin and His Wooden Soldiers (2016) were presented at the Russian Cinema stand, organized by Cinema Fund of Russia.
Indigenous Film Distribution has acquired The Snow Queen theatrical rights to South Africa — the film has been released in 70 countries to date, including the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Australia/New Zealand, Japan and Brazil. This year will see its release in China on 3,000 screens.
Conquest Filmes has picked up Snow Queen 2 for Brazil, with inclinations to explore other potential LatAm territories. Pro Films has picked up the sequel for Bulgaria. This year, Snow Queen 2 will arrive in France (DVD rights acquired by Universal through KLB), Germany and Austria (DVD – Elite Film AG), Israel, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
Wizart also launched presales for Urfin and His Wooden Soldiers at EFM, selling Middle East theatrical rights to Shooting Stars. The 3D film is produced by Melnitsa Animation, which produced the Russian animated hit Three Heroes: Gambit.
