FatRedCouch Producing ‘Edison’s Secret Lab’ Apps

Genius Brands International is partnering with FatRedCouch, Inc. on the production of apps for animated children’s series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab. A master app release will coincide with the show’s premiere on public television later this year, and will feature a self-contained play environment with multiple activities and games utilizing animation from the series. The app will be available through iOS and Android through channel partners including Apple, Google, Amazon and Barnes & Noble (Nook).

“The Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab master app will take viewers deeper into the Secret Lab, showing kids how fun science can be by immersing them in a digital world where they can interact with the characters and be a part of this secret world themselves,” says GBI’s president of global consumer products, Stone Newman.

Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab follows 12-year-old prodigy Angie and her young science club who accidentally discover a dream lab equipped with all kinds of gadgets — including a hologram that brings Mr. Edison “to life” and a virtual reality machine that lets them go anywhere. And of course, a wacky and slightly nervous robot called Von Bolt to accompany them. The 26 x half-hour series is produced in association with Georgia Public Broadcasting and will be distributed to U.S. pubcasters by American Public Television. The property will encompass an interactive website, digital apps, toys, games, electronics, in-school curriculum and more.
