Schrab Directs ‘LEGO’ Sequel; Carloni Co-Directs ‘Panda 3’

Director shuffles are afoot as TV director Rob Schrab is set to direct The LEGO Movie sequel while Alessandro Carloni has joined Jennifer Yuh as director on Kung Fu Panda 3.

Schrab’s experience is in live-action comedy series, such as Community, Parks and Recreation and The Mindy Project. This will be his directorial debut. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will write and produce the sequel, due in theaters in May 2017.

Carloni was brought on at Yuh’s request to ensure the sequel would be ready to make a strong promotional push ahead of its March 18, 2016, release, reports Deadline.com. Carloni is a DreamWorks Animation veteran and worked on the previous Kung Fu Panda pictures as animation supervisor and story artist, as well as head of story on How to Train Your Dragon 2. He was attached to direct Me & My Shadow, which DreamWorks had planned to release last year but it was put back into development in 2013.
