Add ‘Neverbeast,’ ‘Mockingjay’ to Your Disc Menagerie

It’s a big day for heroines, with the most-recent adventures for Tinker Bell and Katniss Everdeen arriving on home video.

Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast (Disney, $36.99 Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $29.99 DVD) is the seventh in the series of Tinker Bell movies and features a tale of Fawn befriending a frightening creature and finding a way for it to be accepted by the other fairies of Pixie Hollow. Boasting a more action-oriented take on the fairies, bonus features include: “5 Essential Ingredients to Getting Gruff,” “My Dad’s Movie: The True Story of the Neverbeast,” “Jeff Corwin’s Guide to Real-World Neverbeasts” and deleted scenes.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (Lionsgate, $39.99 Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy; $29.95 DVD and digital copy) presents the penultimate chapter in the saga of Katniss Everdeen and features five hours of bonus materials, including a feature-length behind-the-scenes documentary “The Mockingjay Lives: The Making of Mockingjay – Part 1.” Additional special features include “Straight from the Heart: A Tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman,” deleted scenes, an audio commentary with director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson, as well as the “Songs of Rebellion: Lorde on Curating the Soundtrack” featurette.
