Ireland’s Brown Bag Films has entered a mutual first-look deal to develop published and animated children’s content with Scholastic UK. This will see Brown Bag offering its animated properties to Scholastic for publishing, and the publisher tipping the studio off to upcoming new titles with an eye to the possibility of creating animated content.
Earlier this year, Scholastic UK partnered with London-based ad platform SuperAwesome, seeking to leverage the company’s reach with animation and game developers. Brown Bag has previously adapted books like Peter Rabbit, Bing and the recently greenlit Amazon Studios project The Stinky & Dirty Show from kids’ books.
Among Scholastic UK’s upcoming projects are a collaboration with CBeebies presenters Sam and Mark, and a re-launch of R.L. Stine’s popular Goosebumps series — which Sony is turning into a live-action feature set for October.
