Shout! Bringing ‘Maya the Bee’ to U.S. Theaters

Shout! Factory Kids will be bringing the CG animated Maya the Bee Movie to theaters in Los Angeles and New York on May 1, 2015. Based on the globally known children’s novel, the German-Australian co-production from director Alexs Stadermann (Bambi II) immerses viewers into a richly detailed, macroscopic world and features the voices of Coco Jack Gillies, Jacki Weaver, Miriam Margolyes, Richard Roxburgh, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Justine Clark. Marcus Sauermann and Fin Edquist wrote the screenplay.

Rated G, Maya the Bee Movie centers on a little bee with a big heart who dreams of a life of freedom, fun and adventure. Her attempts to fit in get her into trouble with the Queen’s narrow-minded royal adviser, Buzzlina. But with her best friend Willy, Maya sets out into the meadow on a journey of self discovery and makes friends with other insects like Flip the eccentric grasshopper, Kurt the dung beetle and a young hornet named Sting. And when the Queen’s royal jelly is stolen, it is up to Maya and all of her bug buddies to save the day.

Maya the Bee Movie is a co-production of Studio 100 Media and Buzz Studios in association with Flying Bark Productions. More information at mayathebeemovie.net.
