CBeebies controller Kay Benbow and BBC Worldwide’s director for children’s Henrietta Hurford-Jones have commissioned a third season of BAFTA-winning preschool series Sarah & Duck from Karrot Entertainment. The new season of 40 x 7 will bring the total number of episodes to 120 and guarantee new onscreen content for both CBeebies UK and CBeebies international channels clear through to 2018.
The commission comes on the heels of successful developments for the series, which earlier this year had its third DVD released and its first app, Sarah & Duck – A Day at the Park topped the Kids iTunes charts. BBCW has also secured a continued licensing and merchandising agreement in the U.K. for the show from Karrot. Merchandise includes a plus line from Posh Paws, and publishing partner Puffin has plans for two more picture books, while a Christmas-themed DVD is due out later this year.
