After a successful first year with Artist-in-Residence Brett Long, The Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) is seeking applications for its second run of its neophyte Research and Production Animation Residency, supported by the Petman Foundation. The deadline to apply is July 31, 2015.
The residency will see one selected Canadian artist and one selected international artists engage in self-directed works toward the completion of an indie animated film or video, supported by monetary funding, studio space and resources at the TAIS Production Centre. Applicants must be TAIS members (non-members can apply at http://tais.ca/membership-3/get-involved). The artists selected will also engage with the community by giving an artist talk, workshop or presentation.
Application and program details for the Canadian Artist Residency (Oct. 1, 2015 – January 31, 2016) and International Artist Residency (November 1-30, 2015) are available here: http://tais.ca/2015_artist_in_residence.html.
Brett Long will be giving an Artist Talk with screening on Saturday, July 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at PIX Film Gallery, where he will present the work he’s accomplished on his stop-motion animated adventure in Panoramic 3D using experimental Oculus Rift technology. The talk will be accompanied by refreshments and preceded by an outdoor barbecue (RSVP required).
