London-based Cake has appointed Chapman Entertainment’s former director of production & development Emily Whinnett as its new VP – Creative. Whinnett will work closely with Creative Director & CEO Tom Van Waveren on Cake’s upcoming programming slate with an eye to increasing the company’s future development output and building on its reputation as a co-producer.
Whinnett is an experienced development executive and producer with over 10 years of industry experience. She lead the development, production and launch of Chapman’s award-winning shows Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car on Nick Jr. and Milkshake!, and Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion for CBeebies. Whinnett also produced the chart-topping charity song Peter Kay’s Animated All Star Band – The Official BBC Children in Need Medley 2009.
Subsequently, Whinnett joined Belfast’s Sixteen South (Lily’s Driftwood Bay) as head of development, responsible for all IP development. She also manages her own company, Red Squirrel Entertainment, where she has consulted for a variety of clients including Soho Square Productions as director of programs, Spinmaster Entertainment as part of the development team for Paw Patrol, and Keith Chapman Productions.
