Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival, running July 14 through August 4, has revealed its 2015 film lineup. Featuring a healthy blend of animated and live-action projects touching on everything from the richly fantastical to the gritty and absurd, Fantasia 2015 will open this year with the North American premiere of Keiichi Hara’s Miss Hokusai — a Production I.G film which last month received the Jury Award at Annecy– and the Montreal premiere of Marvel’s Ant-Man.
This year’s festival boasts 135 feature films and almost 300 shorts, out of which 22 will receive world premiere screenings during Fantasia. Other notable animations on deck include Javier Fesser’s Mortadelo & Filemon: Mission Implausible, Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, Minuscule: The Valley of the Lost Ants, Arclight Films’ Teana: 10,000 Years Later, CJ ENtertainment’s Crimson Wale, Shunji Iwai’s The Case of Hana & Alice, Gabrielle Le Blanc’s Poussieres d’Etoiles and the Iranian stop-motion adaptation of Tim Burton’s poem, Junk Girl — among many other selections.
