The Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) will present its annual TAIS Animation Showcase on Saturday, July 25 at 7 p.m. at downtown Toronto’s CineCycle. The yearly event presents some of the best local, national and international indie animations covering a variety of mediums, genres and styles.
The 2015 edition will present 21 shorts, which will be considered for four awards by audience and jury members — including a grand prize of a year=long dual membership to TIFF Bell Lightbox. Some highlights of the program include Nicolas Menard’s Loop Ring Chop Drink, Fraser Wright’s Storage Space, Martina Scarpelli’s Cosmoetico and the pan-Canadian collaborative film Sailor’s Grave.
This year’s Anijam section of the Showcase is a collection of mind-bending 10-second works created by animators with no guidelines under than the theme “Psychedelic”. The best Anijams are also in competition for awards. A full lineup can be found on the TAIS website.
