Dublin animation studio Wiggleywoo is racking up international sales for its animated preschool series The Day Henry Met (26 x 5), which launched this week on RTEjr. Distributor Monster Entertainment is helping to whip up interest, which so far has resulted in a deal with Australian pubcaster ABC (Nickelodeon has the first broadcast window in the country) and negotiations with a major French broadcaster and unnamed U.S. channel.
The Day Henry Met season one was produced with a 1.2 million euro budget, funded by the Irish Film Board, Section 481 tax incentive scheme, Creative Europe, RTEjr and presales to broadcasters including Canada’s TVO, YLE in Finland and SVT in Sweden following its pilot debut on Nick Jr in the U.K. and Ireland. The Wiggleywoo co-founders, series producer Susan Broe and creative director Gary Gill, intend to produce a second season beginning in December.
