Disney XD will premiere Pickle and Peanut — an animated buddy comedy following the offbeat adventures of teen pals/food items — on Monday, September 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with new episodes airing Mondays through October 5. The series features the voices of Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) as emotional Pickle and Johnny Pemberton (22 Jump Street) as the freewheeling Peanut. The premiere episode will be available on WATCH Disney XD, Disney XD On Demand and DisneyXD.com starting September 1.
Created by Noah Z. Jones (Fish Hooks) and developed by Joel Trussell (Yo Gabba Gabba!) introduces small-town teens Pickle and Peanut as they embark upon their last year of high school, determined to cram in as much fun as possible before making the leap to adulthood, and stand out even in their slightly bizarre fictional suburb of Reno. The show mixes 2D animation and live-action clips to highlight its unpredictable humor and quirky nature.
The premiere episode consists of two adventures. In “Greg,” Pickle lends his new friend Greg the pimple to his frenemy Lazer in hopes of landing an invitation to his cool party. When they realize Lazer has no intention of returning Greg, Pickle and Peanut must save him. In “Gramma Jail,” the duo accidentally get sweet, elderly Mam Mams arrested, and must break her out of “gramma jail” before inmate Psycho Cyclops can get to her. DisneyXD.com will pre-empt the premiere with online games released August 3 and 28.
